This work is part of an artists’ survey that we are undertaking. The project began as a survey of taxidermic polar bears washed up and remaining in the United Kingdom today. In its methodology it actively set out to track down these specimens and we’ve done everything within our power to locate every last example that exists as a mount rather than simply bones or skins. The work pictured here was acquired in 1999 by Lady and Lord Puttnam who bought it from the Deyrolle Natural History Shop and Museum in Paris. It is currently located in Lady and Lord Puttnam’s residence in London.
